One of the greatest things about being a biker is that we're a part of a community and this is our chance to do something good - help ensure that all babies are born healthy and strong.

A message from Dee Snider, Long Island Chair and National Spokesperson for the March of Dimes Bikers for Babies:

Strong Island MC Riders:

Well, it's that time of year again.  We've all had it with the cold and are chompin' at the bit to get back on our bikes and out on the road!   What better way to launch the 2010 riding season than with a charitable gesture that helps babies in need and reconnects us all with the Long Island motorcycle riding community:  “Dee Snider’s 8th Annual Bikers for Babies Ride to Benefit the March of Dimes!”

Mother Nature wasn't a biker's best friend on the day of last years ride (Have you noticed how fickle she is?) and the inclement weather really squashed the turn out that rainy Sunday morning.  Ridership dwindled from the mighty 3,000 of the year before to a soggy 300 intrepid bikers (Including, I want to point out, the Vespa Riders Club!  So I don't want to hear any more crap about scooter riders not being hardcore.).  Despite the disappointing 10% of the previous year's attendance, the 2009 ride still raised $75,000!   50% of the money raised the prior year!   Bravo to all who rode and donated money to this very important mission.

So what did you miss last year?  A well organized, tight, safe enjoyable ride.  After the problems (read: growing pains) of the 2008 ride, the MOD Bikers for Babies committee set out to fix all of your issues and concerns about the ride.   With the help of the road captain skills of the Guardians of the Children MC club and their enlistment of the help of over 12 other Long Island MC clubs, we had a PERFECTLY run ride!   It was amazing!   And with the help of the GOC and their friends again this year, we'll have more of the same in 2010.

“Dee Snider’s 8th Annual Bikers for Babies Ride to Benefit the March of Dimes” is set for May 23, 2010 and, while I hope each and every one of you can save the date and join me on the day of the Ride, please consider donating the $20 to the March of Dimes (30 bucks the day of the ride), get your 2010 BFB pin and, if you can make it on May 23rd , you’ll be pre-registered to ride.  If you can’t make it...well, you donated a twenty to a great organization that puts more than 76 cents of every dollar towards the research and work that helps prematurely born babies and babies with birth defects.  And you got a cool pin for your vest or jacket.

So what do you say?  Will you donate $20 to help babies in need?   I know the families of those babies in need would appreciate it.  If you can make it on May 23rd, the where’s and when’s are all included in this brochure.

Thanks again to all my incredible sponsors (Lighthouse Harley Davidson, Ruby Tuesday Long Island, Garden City Pizza & Catering, Full Throttle Magazine, WBAB/WBLI, Hog Wild TV) and all of my dedicated BFB committee members (Greg Bavaro, Mark Mendoza, Carl Bachmann, Greg & Lee Sheridan, Bill Mountzouros, Jo-Ann Delgado, Earl Schepperly, Randy Pridgen, Bill Blackford, Rob Schneider, Tracey Griffin, Jeff & Sue Grube, Christine Berman, George Tsunis, Hammer, Diceman & Irish from the GOC)  And a special thanks to Linda Shapiro of the March of Dimes for tremendous effort to make this event happen.  You guys rock and I absolutely couldn’t do it without you!

Now remember, the date of the Ride is May 23rd, but if you can’t make it or you’re not sure you can make it that day, please donate $20 to a very good cause...I promise you, you won’t regret it.

I hope to see you all on “Dee Snider’s 8th Annual Bikers for Babies Ride to Benefit the March of Dimes!”
